The companyis a Canadian based investment management company that specializes in providing access to high quality alternative asset managers and multi-manager fund of alternative funds to a wide range of clients including family offices, institutions, pension funds and high net worth individuals.
 
We are currently looking for one individual to join our team.
 
Position:        Manager of Corporate Accounting 
 
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Manager of Corporate Accounting will manage all aspects of the accounting, financial reporting and internal control activities for the company along with reviewing other subsidiaries and related companies. Currently, the position has one direct report.
 
The responsibilities of the individual in this position include:
 
Corporate Accounting:
·         Review general ledger account reconciliations
·         Review bank reconciliations
·         Review monthly reports and statements
·         Prepare and review corporate budgets
·         Review audit files for the company
·         Liaise with the corporate auditors
·         Prepare quarterly and year-end financial statements and corporate tax returns
·         Ensure compliance with all related tax authorities including HST, PST, etc.
·         Ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met
·         Other duties as assigned
 
Other Entities:
·         Review corporate financial statements, budgets and reporting of subsidiaries
·         Review corporate financial statements, budgets and reporting of related entities
·         Prepare annual fund tax returns
 
Internal Controls and Other:
·         Documentation and continuous development of internal controls
·         Identifying control weaknesses
·         Liaise with external auditors, regulators and bankers
·         Ensure appropriate insurance
·         Supervision of staff
 
Qualifications:
·         A minimum of four years of accounting
·         Experience in the mutual funds or investment management industry as well as in a regulatory environment is highly desirable
·         Professional Accounting Designation
·         Undergraduate or graduate degree in business/finance/accounting
·         Strong computer skills with above average knowledge of Microsoft Excel
·         An understanding of current and developing Canadian GAAP/IFRS
·         Must be organized and highly motivated with ability to work independently and as part of a team
·         Effective communication and interpersonal skills required to influence and interact with all levels of management and external clients
